If you ever find yourself craving candy-coated arthropods...

...you can go to Hotlix.com!  This is a company that has been selling such tasty confections as candied scorpions, crickets, and even worms - for variety's sake one presumes - "for over 20 years!"  Their website also includes a "non-insect candy" section (although the worms are lumped in with the insects, for some reason).  One of their non-insect candies, is a blueberry-flavored "aquarium candy" which includes a goldfish cracker in the middle.

Not a real fish, of course,
because that would be icky.

Yet again, we see that division between vertebrates and invertebrates which seems to dictate what we, the public, will accept from those who are in the business of killing things.  Anyone reminded at all of IACUC protocols here?

  1. Haha... Yeah, invertebrates really do get unfairly treated don't they? I mean, I'm sure that flatworm wanted to have its head split down the middle! I'm sure it didn't hurt at all.

They would get extra bonus points for having a separate worm, annelid, nematode, etc. section.
